Hanoi (VNA) - Myanmar's foreign trade in the just ended fiscal year of 2007-08 is expected to rise to a new high against the previous fiscal year of 2006-07 of 8.1 billion USD, the weekly Myanmar Times reported.
The weekly paper, citing Minister of Commerce Brigadier-General Tin Naing Thein, said the foreign trade volume in the calendar year of 2007 reached over 8.7 billion USD, estimating that the figures for 2007-08 will be correspondingly higher than 2006-07.
In 2007, Myanmar's exports stood at almost 6.0 billion USD, while its imports were nearly 2.8 billion USD, resulting in a trade surplus of 3.2 billion USD, the Customs Department was quoted as saying.-Enditem
