AIZAWAL: Two boys died and 12 others took ill after drinking spurious liquor at Indo-Myanmar border hamlet in Zawngling in Mizoram, police said on Saturday.
The police said Doha and Mondaya had complained of acute stomach pain before dying on Thursday. The sick persons were admitted to Civil Hospital in Saiha where their condition was stated to be stable.
Police suspect the victims drank Myanmarese-made liquor secretly sold in the villages. State excise department officials said with this death, around 20 people died since Prohibition was imposed in Mizoram in 1997.
