The Hindu Wednesday, Apr 30, 2008

HYDERABAD: After causing anxiety for a day in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, the cyclonic storm, Nargis, turned towards Myanmar on Tuesday.

Collector of all the nine coastal districts who have been asked to be on high alert heaved a sigh of relief. Unless the cyclonic storm changes course towards India’s coast, there is no danger to Andhra Pradesh, Disaster Management Commissioner Preeti Sudan, said quoting the India Meteorological Department.

The Government, however, warned fishermen and ships against venturing into the sea as the Bay of Bengal remained turbulent and rough as a fallout of the cyclonic storm. It has also asked officials to retain the dangers signals in all the ports fromVisakhapatnam to Odarevu.

On Tuesday, there were isolated rains in Coastal Andhra while weather was dry in Telangana and Rayalaseema. Nizamabad continued to be the hottest place as it recorded a day temperature of 43 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
